PALM SUNDAY – The King Arrives!

Gracepointkitsap   -

Welcome Back!!!

Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: Palm Sunday (stand alone)

This “triumphant” arrival to Jerusalem brought Jesus to tears. These were tears of sorrow because the people had completely missed His purpose for coming; not as a political messiah, but a spiritual one. Jesus prophesied the destruction of Jerusalem which would be the end of temple and their entire sacrificial system of Judaism. Daniel prophesied the arrival of the Messiah prior to the destruction of the temple which would happen in 70 AD. Sadly, most Jews missed their Messiah who was already here.

Last Week: Make a list of the priorities in your life, then read Matthew 22:37; John 15:4-5; Galatians 5:25. Are they in alignment?

Two Weeks Ago: Do you believe that God is for you? Spend time this week thanking Him that He is in control… of all of it.

Key Verse:

“Blessings on the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in highest heaven!” Luke 19:38

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
What is your favorite flower?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
What is a strong  opinion you currently hold about food?
What caused you to have it?
Have you ever changed your opinion about something?
What was it?
What caused the change?
What are most of our opinions based on?
Read Matthew 21:6-11;  John 12:12-19
What was happening in these passages?
Why did the people react that way towards Jesus?
How did they form their opinions about Him?
What were they hoping Jesus would do?
Read Luke 22:1-6, 54-62; 23:18-23
How did these people cheer for Jesus one week and then a week later call for his execution?
What about those closest to Him?
How did their opinions change?
How do you think you would have reacted?
Read Matthew 16:13-16
How do we form opinions today about Jesus?
What do you believe to be true about Jesus?
How did you arrive at that conclusion?
Have those opinions ever been challenged by people or circumstances? How?
Why is it important for each of us to have an answer for that question?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
As we enter the week before Easter, who is Jesus? How would you answer that question?
