September 15 • ALIEN LIFE – Living Hope (week 1)
Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!
Before we jump into our study, let’s remember three goals of every LifeGroup gathering:
– Grow with Each Other (know each other better)
– Grow Closer to God (know God better)
– Grow Deeper in Life (live by faith better)
All of the questions are designed to lead us in spiritual and relational growth. The goal is to deepen our relationships with God and one another, and learn to live by faith better in the process.

Grow with Each Other
- Describe a time you were filled with hope in a difficult situation. How did having hope impact the situation?
- Describe a time you felt hopeless in a difficult situation? How did your difficulty having hope impact the situation?
- How has the hopefulness or hopelessness of someone else impacted your faith?
Grow Closer to God
- READ 1 Peter 1:1-2; Ephesians 1:3-14
- What does it mean to be “the elect…chosen”? Why does God choose us?
- What does God choosing you teach you about God?
- How does being chosen by God bring you hope?
- READ 1 Peter 2:1; John 15:19; Philippians 3:20
- What does it mean for us to be “foreigners…aliens…exiles”?
- How does knowing this life is not our home encourage you in your faith?
- What does knowing this life is not your destination teach you about God?
- What does knowing this earth is not our home teach you about living in this world as a believer?

- What is the difference between biblical hope and cultural hope?
- How is the resurrection a living hope for believers? How is it a living hope for you personally?
- What does God keeping an inheritance in Heaven for believers teach you about God?
- READ 1 Peter 1:10-12; Romans 10:9-13
- Why is it important to not only confess faith, but to believe it in your heart in order to be saved?
- What is the inheritance we receive when we confess, believe, and are saved?
- How does the confident expectation of this inheritance encourage you while you live in this foreign land?

- How does this living hope change your perspective of your past, present and future?
- How can knowing what awaits you in Heaven help you through the stress, confusion and fears you will face this week?
- What have you been placing hope in that is in God’s place?
- What can you do this week to redirect your hope to this living hope? How can your group come alongside you in this?
