Steak and Potatoes – a study in Romans: Live a Transformed Life (week 9)

Gracepointkitsap   -

Welcome Back!!!

Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: Steak & Potatoes – a study in Romans

This 12 week series will look at the major themes in the book of Romans. This Epistle provides the fullest explanation of the gospel in the New Testament. It pulls no punches while describing man’s condition, the cause and effect of sin, and the transformational power of the gospel.

Last Week: Is there someone in your life (you or others) that needs to hear the HOPE of God’s purpose? How can you share that this week?

Two Weeks Ago: How is your direction in life? Where could you use some peace? Talk to God about it this week.

Key Verse:

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.Romans 12:2

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
When is the last time you changed your hairstyle?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
If we were to pull out your high school year book, how would you describe your “style” back then?
How would you describe your style now?
What caused the change?
Does choosing a style come from age/stage, where you live? explain
Read Roman 12:1-2
What does it mean to conform to something?
What does it mean to be transformed by something?
How are those two words different?
Read verse two again. According to Romans 12:2, how are we transformed?
What tangible steps does someone need to take for that process to take place?
Read Romans 12:9-10; 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
What is “genuine” love?
With whom are we to to show this type of love?
How does our “transformation” show up in this?
Read Romans 12:14; Luke 6:27-28
How do we live this out, really?
Why is it important to live this way?
How is this “counter culture” to world’s standard?
Read Romans 12:18-21
What is this passage trying to say?
How can someone be “overcome by evil”?
Does God also love the person who has done wrong to you?
How can us reacting differently to the difficult people in our lives be a blessing to them and to us?
Does God’s vengeance look different than ours? Why?
How can you pray for that person this week?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
Is there a difficult person in your life? Pray for them this week and ask God to help you see them as He does.
