SECURE ME – MY PUFFY CHEST (WEEK 2)

Gracepointkitsap   -

Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES:
Secure Me

Everyone struggles with insecurity. As soon as you read that something popped into your head. I believe that insecurity is part of the original sin of mankind. We had security in God, then we lost it and we’ve been trying to get it back ever since. It’s about all of us dealing with our insecurity and how we can learn to live securely in God when we understand where that security truly comes from and how it can change our lives.

Last Week:
What would it look like for you to live “securely” in God this week?

Two Weeks Ago:
Is there a place in your life where you are trying to replace God with earthly comfort?

Key Verse:

“Ah, stubborn children,” declares the Lord, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin;” Isaiah 30:1

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
What is a hidden talent you have?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
What is something in your life where you are very confident in your ability to do it?
How did you gain that confidence?
Have you ever had confidence in something only to fall flat on your face?
Was that a good or bad thing?
How would you describe a prideful person?
How does someone become prideful?
Read Isaiah 30:1; Jeremiah 9:23-24
Have you ever tried to “help God out” with your own solution to a problem?
How did it go?
What is something that you try to control?
How does our pride try to keep us in control of a situation?
How is control a way for someone to feel secure?
Read Psalm 52:7; James 4:17
Where do you think people are willing to compromise to gain their security?
Does the end justify the means? Why?
Read Isaiah 14:13-14; Genesis 3:4-5
How does satan use our pride to draw us away from God?
Why do we think we deserve things?
Read Proverbs 3:5-6
Have you ever thought God was holding out on you?
Have you considered that God is protecting you from harm instead of keeping you from something good?
Does our true security come from being in control, or trusting God who controls all things?
Where can you apply that this week?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
If you were to lay down your pride this week, what do you have to gain?
