Secret Baggage – Anxiety & Fear (week 4)

Gracepointkitsap   -

THIS IS THE LAST SET OF QUESTIONS BEFORE OUR SUMMER BREAK

Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: Secret Baggage

Each of us has unresolved issues that we carry around. In a word, it’s called baggage. Although you do your best to ignore it, conceal it, or fake it, your baggage burdens your life while slowly squeezing out hope for your future. Before passing your baggage on to your children, let’s unpack this dead weight so you can begin living a life of freedom that God desires for you.

Last Week: Read 1 John 4:11-12 this week. Where can you start applying this passage this week?

Two Weeks Ago: Spend some time reading 1 Samuel 3-4. Have you allowed enabling to enter your life?

Key Verse:

do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
What is the last place you went out to eat?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
What is a fear/phobia you have (ie spiders, heights, public speaking)?
When is the last time you faced it?
How did it go?
How did you develop this fear/phobia?
Read Matthew 6:26-27
What are the advantages to fear and anxiety?
What are the disadvantages?
Does our worry and fear change anything about our circumstances?
Read Philippians 4:4-6
How can we rejoice in the Lord when we are feeling anxious?
Why is that important?
How are we supposed to handle anxiety?
What does that look like for you?
Why do you think God wants us to talk to Him about it?
Read Philippians 4:7
What is the payoff to giving our anxiety and fears to God?
Does it mean that our circumstances change?
Does it mean we won’t have to face our fears?
What does it mean?
How is that a comfort?
What fear or anxiety are you currently facing?
What would it look like to give this over to God, completely?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
Spend time this week reading Philippians 4:4-7. Ask God if there is anything you need to give over to Him.
