The Dividing Line BC/AD – The Light of the World (week1)

Gracepointkitsap   -

Welcome Back!!!

Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: The Dividing Line

All human time is centered on the birth of Christ. BC means “before Christ.” AD means “the year of our Lord” – a reference to Jesus. This Christmas season we will look at prophecies in the BC that were fulfilled at the coming of Christ in the AD.

Last Week: What is your purpose at GPC? If you don’t know, talk to God about it. Consider taking the next membership class and find out.

Two Weeks Ago:  Send some time this week praying through Romans 14; Luke 6:45; Matthew 15:18. How is your heart?

Key Verse:

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.John 1:5

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
What is your favorite Christmas song?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
Were you ever scared of the dark?
What got you past that fear?
Have you ever had to walk into a dark room?
What makes that difficult to navigate?
How does a source of light make that easier?
How many of you have a flashlight or a source of light next your bed?
Why is that important?
When do we like the dark? When do we like the light?
Read John 1:1-9
Why is Jesus described as “the Light”?
How is Christ’s life the light of men? Why does that matter?
Why is it important to note that the light is not overcome by darkness?
Read verse 9 again. What does it mean that Jesus gives light to everyone?
Read John 3:19-21; Isaiah 42:6-7; 49:6
How does Jesus’ light impact those who follow Him?
Why is that important?
Read Colossians 1:12-13; Matthew 5:16
How does the light of Christ transform someone’s life?
How has it impacted your life?
For those who have accepted Christ’s free gift of salvation, how should be live out the Light that is in us?
What happens when we don’t?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
