Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

Faith In Action

Authentic Christianity is a faith that is mirrored in action and actions that are mirrored in Christ. The book of James is one of the most practical books in the Bible that is so relevant today. It is challenges our faith to be lived out!

Last Week:

Memorize either Proverbs 15:1, Proverbs17:28 or James 1:19 and apply it to your “speech” this week.
Write down how it has impacted you and tell us about it the next time we meet.

Two Weeks Ago:

Do your words and your actions line up with your faith?

Key Verse:

6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. The tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.” James 3:6

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
Best car you’ve ever owned

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
If you could change three things about the world that would be beneficial to only you, what would they be?
How could something that is only beneficial to you be potentially negative to me?
What does it mean to be happy?
Is our happiness (human beings) the end game in life?
Why is happiness in the world subjective?
Read James 3:13-14
Why is it impossible for everyone to be happy?
Describe a selfish person
Do you know anyone who fits that description?
Describe a humble person
Who is easier to be around? Why?
Read James 3:14-17
Where do you see this being lived out in our world?
Is it wrong to be “driven”? Explain
Where could it become a potential problem?
Read James 3:17
How does this verse apply to social media?
How does this verse apply to us when we meet someone who might vote differently than us?
Read James 3:18; Philippians 1:9-11
For someone who follows Jesus, what is the ultimate “endgame”?
Is it more important to be right or righteous? Can you be both?
If you have a disagreement with someone, what is the one thing about you that you want them to have when you are done with your discussion?
What does it mean to have a harvest of righteousness (see verse 17)?
How could you sow peace this week?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)

Read James 3:17. Pick one quality from that verse and look for ways to apply it this week.
