Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

When storms come and life is turbulent, we can hold onto TRUTH as an anchor in the storm. Need peace that goes beyond understanding, joy in trials, and hope beyond measure? That’s exactly what God offers us through His Word.

Last Week:
Write a definition for Trust and Peace that applies to your relationship with God.
Memorize Proverbs 3:5 and Philippians 4:7

Two Weeks Ago:
Anxiety is real. Where do you need peace right now? Talk to God and memorize Philippians 4:6-7 this week

Key Verse:

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
When was the last time you received a ticket (speeding/parking/etc)?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
Checking in
How are you doing?
How have the events of the last week impacted your life?
What are your biggest concerns right now?
How are you your neighbors doing?

Discussion Questions:
When you see police lights behind you, what is usually your first reaction?
How old were you when you received your first speeding ticket?
When you were a kid and you got in trouble, what was the typical punishment?
Did it work?
If you misbehaved, what was the most effective thing your parents could do to get your attention?
Read Matthew 5:45; John 16:3; Psalm 46:1-3
What does it mean to have “trouble” in life?
So do bad things happen to good people or just to all people?
Why do people think bad things shouldn’t happen to people who are “good”?
If “trouble” in life is a guarantee, should we walk around with a feeling of dread?
How does Psalm 46 speak to that?
What does it mean for God to be “a very present help” in our troubles?
When have you experienced that?
How can trouble be beneficial in our lives?
Read Hebrews 4:16
How do we come to God when it’s self inflicted trouble?
How does satan try to keep us from going to God?
What does it mean to rest in the fact that God is in control?
What does mercy and grace mean to you?
How does that knowledge give us the confidence that God whatever is happening in our lives?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
Have bad things in your past caused you to be distant from God? Talk to Him about it this week. Read Psalm 46:1-3 every day this week.
