ILLUSIONS (Part 3) – THIS IS WHO YOU ARE

Gracepointkitsap   -

Welcome to a New LifeGroup Session!

Before we jump into our study, let’s take a moment to remember that there are THREE things we want to see happen every time our LifeGroups gather:

– Movement towards Each Other
– Movement towards God
– Movement towards our Community

Our questions follow this same format. All of the questions are designed towards movement. We hope you enjoy your time together in your LifeGroup.
**Remember, our goal is to deepen our relationship with Jesus and each other. Use the questions that are help and skip the rest.

CURRENT SERIES: Illusions – Falling for a Believable Lie

Satan is the master illusionist. He is always trying to get us to believe something that isn’t true so that we will do something that isn’t smart. He offers us something of temporary value in order for us to give him something of permanent value. This series will pull the mask off of Satan’s lies that many believe.

Last Week:
What is your plan to seek God’s Truth in your own life in 2020?
Verbalize a step you will take to move you forward in that.

Two Weeks Ago:
What lie (habit) have you allowed in your life that you think is “ok” but you know it’s not? Isn’t it time to stop believing the lie? Talk to God. Start 2020 fresh. Memorize John 8:32.

Key Verse:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Movement Towards Each Other (know the people in your group)
If you could use one word to describe yourself, what would it be?

Movement Towards God (grow in your relationship with God)
What was a nickname you had as a kid?
How did you get it?
Do you still use it?
Did you ever have a teacher/coach who said something positive/negative about you as a kid?
How did that impact your life?
Read John 4:4-9
Why do you think the time of day is noted in this passage?
Who do you think the woman was trying to avoid?
What was the big deal (culturally) with Jesus speaking to a Samaritan woman?
Read John 4:10-30
What was Jesus offering to the woman?
Even though He knew her story, He still pursed her. Why?
How do we try to hide from God?
Explain this statement: God brings questions that trigger conviction but satan brings accusations that trigger condemnation.
Read John 4:39-42
How did her believing in Jesus have an impact on those around her?
What would have happened if she had beloved the lie that she couldn’t change?
Read 2 Corinthians 5:17
Have you ever been told that you can’t change?
Is that true?
How do you know?
Why does satan want us to believe that lie?
When we change the things God is telling us to change and we do it, who does that impact?
What is a lie about yourself that you currently believe?
What would happen if you leaned into God and made a change in your life?

Movement Towards Community (they see the change in you)
What would happen if you changed the thing in your life God is asking you to change?
Memorize 2 Corinthians 5:17 and talk to God about it.
